Travel Grants

IDRH travel grants will provide up to $1000 to faculty, academic staff and graduate students for travel costs to attend digital humanities conferences, workshops and related events, in order to present research papers or to develop knowledge of digital humanities tools or topics. Grants are intended to provide support for travel to events that applicants would otherwise be unable to attend.

Priority will be given to travel which allows the applicant: 1) to give a presentation on a topic which entails digital humanities research; or 2) to attend a digital humanities workshop that will have a direct and demonstrable impact on applicant’s research or teaching activity. Higher priority is assigned to those presenting a paper or poster.

Eligibility for Award: Eligibility is limited to KU tenured or tenure-track faculty members (and faculty equivalents), academic staff and graduate students. Individuals may be funded only once every three years. Application must be received no later than four weeks before travel.

Amount of Award: up to $1000.

Deadline: Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the allocated funds are spent for the fiscal year.

Funding is provided through the Institute for Digital Research in the Humanities, a partnership of KU Libraries, the Hall Center for the Humanities, and the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences. Personal time may not be more than 50% of total travel time. A minimum of four hours spent on a business purpose is required to claim a business day; travel time is considered business. Receipts will be required for travel and certain other expenses.
